Staten Island Community Boards: 39-acre Ocean Breeze drainage project among topics on agendas this week

New York’s Staten Island. This week, two of the three Community Boards on Staten Island will have public meetings. Several of these meetings will be conducted virtually, allowing participants to join via Zoom.

The public is welcome to attend any Community Board or committee meeting.

All of the meetings scheduled for next week are listed here.

Community Board 1

This week, Community Board 1 has a number of meetings scheduled.

At 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 17, the West Brighton/Randall Manor Area Committee will convene digitally.

A cannabis application for Flynnstonned Cannabis Dispensary, located at 755 Forest Ave., West Brighton, and owned by The Brooklyn Green Project, LLC, is on the agenda.

Additionally, the New Brighton/St. George/Tompkinsville Area Committee will hold a virtual meeting on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

Issues with the ramp at the Tompkinsville Staten Island Railway station will be discussed during the meeting by members of the city’s Department of Transportation.

The Rosebank/Shore Acres Area Committee Meeting is scheduled for December 17 at 6:30 p.m. at the board office, located in Room 217 at 1 Edgewater Plaza.

We’ll talk about illegal additions and residential home conversions to single-room occupancy.

Additionally, the Mariner’s Harbor/Port Richmond Area Committee will convene via Zoom on December 17 at 7 p.m.

Applications for and renewals of liquor licenses, along with negotiations regarding the operating hours of the following companies, will be taken into consideration:

An application for cannabis will be reviewed for Okkersny, LLC, located at 752 Targee Street, Concord.

Community Board 2

A full board meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, December 17, at 7 p.m. It will be conducted in two ways: online through Zoom and in person at the Joan & Alan Bernikow JCC of Staten Island, 1466 Manor Rd., Sea View.

A presentation about the development of a new pond and drainage system on Quincy Avenue and Father Capodanno Boulevard in Ocean Breeze will be given by members of the NYC Department of Environmental Protection and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

A box culvert and related drainage structure will be built along Father Capodanno Blvd between Sand Lane and the new pond, spanning about 39 acres. Other tasks include protecting, moving, and replacing utilities, restoring the roadway, installing erosion control measures, seeding, landscaping, and site restoration.

Community Board 3

There are no meetings of Community Board 3 planned for next week.
