NY weather: Wind advisory for New York until early Tuesday evening

The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory for Franklin, Clinton, and Essex counties on Monday at 9:40 a.m., which was in effect from 7 p.m. to Tuesday at 4 p.m.

“South to southwest winds 15 to 30 mph, with gusts 45 to 50 mph expected, becoming westerly on Tuesday,” the weather service said. “There will be two gusty wind periods. The first is from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. tonight, primarily across the northern Champlain Valley and the Adirondacks. The Adirondacks’ eastern slopes and the eastern flank of Vermont’s northern Green Mountains may experience strong winds again Tuesday between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m.

“Unsecured objects will be buffeted by gusty gusts. According to the weather service, there may be a few power outages and tree branches that are blown down. Strong winds like these can make driving challenging, particularly for well-known cars. Be especially careful. Protect outdoor items.
