“At 2:11 p.m., a lake effect snow band was along a line extending from near Galway to near Savoy and moving east at 15 MPH,” according to the meteorological service.

Interstate 87 between exits 8A and 12 is included in this.

The following areas should have lake effect snow:

  • North Adams, Mechanicville, Adams, Williamstown, Pownal, Grafton, Florida, Round Lake, Hawley, and Galway around 2:15 p.m.

  • Ballston Spa around 2:20 p.m.

  • Monroe around 2:25 p.m.

  • Stamford around 2:40 p.m.

In cold weather conditions, things might quickly get worse. Be ready for roads covered with ice or snow. Reduce your speed and give yourself more time to get there.

“In winter weather conditions, conditions can rapidly deteriorate,” the weather service says. Be ready for roads covered with ice or snow. Reduce your speed and give yourself more time to get there. If you have to go through or into this lake effect snow belt, proceed with additional caution. Accidents may result from abrupt changes in visibility and perhaps slick roads.

United Robots offers a service called Advance Local Weather Alerts that gathers the most recent information from the National Weather Service using machine learning.
