NY weather: Weather alert issued for heavy snow in New York Tuesday night

At 9:43 p.m. on Tuesday, the National Weather Service released a bulletin predicting significant snowfall in Schuyler, Chemung, Tompkins, and Tioga counties through 10:45 p.m.

“At 9:42 p.m., a band of heavy snow was along a line extending from Cayuta to near Windham and moving east at 5 MPH,” according to the weather service.

Spencer, Odessa, Cayuta, Van Etten, Nichols, Tioga Center, Alpine, Lounsberry, North Spencer, and Swartwood are among the places affected by the alert. The following highway exits are included in this: interstate 86/Route 17 between 62 and 63.

“In winter weather conditions, conditions can rapidly deteriorate,” the weather service says. Be ready for roads covered with ice or snow. To get to your destination, slow down and give yourself more time.

United Robots offers a service called Advance Local Weather Alerts that gathers the most recent information from the National Weather Service using machine learning.
