N.Y. Lotto: Two NYC winners bring homes thousands in Powerball winnings

Yesterday, two Powerball players in Brooklyn and Manhattan took home sizable payouts.

The Brooklyn player purchased their $50,000 third-place ticket at J W W Mini Store Inc., located at 5221 7th Ave.

However, the Manhattan player at Uptown Service Station Corp., located at 2326 First Ave., grabbed a $150,000 Powerplay ticket.

With some additional cash in their pocket to start the new year, who could complain?

In the Powerball game, the winning numbers are selected from a range of 1 to 69. A different field ranging from 1 to 26 is used to select the Powerball number. Players must match the red Powerball number and all five white balls in any order to win the jackpot.

Every day of the week, Powerball tickets are available for $2 at any New York Lottery shop. On draw nights, tickets must be purchased by 10 p.m.

The New York Lottery encourages players to purchase tickets in advance to avoid last-minute lineups for the drawings, which take place every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 11 p.m.
