MLB comes down hard on interfering Yankees fans from World Series

The two Yankees supporters who obstructed Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts during Game 4 of the World series have been barred from all major league baseball games.

John P. Hansen and Austin Capobianco, the fans, received a letter this week alerting them to the decision.

You purposefully and violently grabbed a player during Game 4 of the World Series at Yankee Stadium on October 29, 2024, interfering with play. The letter, whose contents were first reported by the New York Post and then obtained by the Associated Press, stated that your actions were extremely inappropriate and constituted a major risk to the player’s health and safety.

The letter stated that Major League Baseball is permanently barring you from all MLB stadiums, offices, and other facilities due to your behavior. Additionally, you are prohibited from attending any MLB-sponsored or affiliated events going forward. Please be aware that you could be arrested for trespassing and removed from any MLB property or event if you are found there.

Gleyber Torres blasted a foul ball down the right line, which Betts caught at the wall, during the Yankees’ opening at-bat of the game. Security promptly expelled the two spectators from the game after he was given the out.

Major League Baseball later requested that the Yankees bar the two fans from Game 5 on Wednesday. The Yankees said the supporters didn’t have season tickets.
