NY weather: Oswego County under a lake effect snow warning until Wednesday afternoon

The National Weather Service issued a lake effect snow warning for Oswego County on Tuesday at 4:37 p.m., which would last until Wednesday at 1 p.m.

According to the weather service, there is a lot of lake effect snow. Additional snow accumulations range from 4 to 9 inches, mostly in the most persistent lake snows and southern Oswego County.

“With extremely poor visibility and heavy snow cover on the roadways, travel will be extremely challenging. The weather service says the dangerous conditions will affect the Tuesday night commute. “The weather during lake effect snow can range from dry conditions a few kilometers distant to bands of locally heavy snow with significantly limited visibility. Be ready for sudden changes in road conditions, visibility, and weather.
