NYPD: Man, 75, suffers broken bones in Staten Island crash; 2 cars badly damaged

New York’s Staten Island. According to authorities, a vehicle collided with a light post on Hylan Boulevard in Great Kills, causing a 75-year-old man to sustain many fractured bones.

At approximately 9:25 p.m. on Sunday, a 40-year-old male at Hylan Boulevard and Fieldway Avenue escaped with minor injuries but refused to receive medical assistance at the site, according to an NYPD spokesman.

According to the spokeswoman, the two men collided at that intersection: the 40-year-old was operating a 2020 Ford Eltingville bound on Hylan Boulevard, and the 75-year-old was operating a 2005 Toyota Oakwood bound on Hylan Boulevard.

Police did not elaborate on the circumstances of the collision.

According to authorities, EMS took the 75-year-old man to Staten Island University Hospital in Ocean Breeze in stable condition.

There was a significant emergency reaction to the crash, which happened a few feet from a house at the intersection of Fieldway.

After getting wedged between a bright-colored car and the light pole, a dark-colored car seemed to be a complete loss. There was also significant damage to the light-colored automobile.

In Hylan Boulevard’s Eltingville-bound lanes, both vehicles ultimately found themselves facing the wrong direction.
