NY weather update: New York under a lake effect snow warning until early Thursday morning

At 8 p.m. on Wednesday, the National Weather Service issued an updated lake effect snow warning for Wyoming, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and Erie counties, which would last until 4 a.m. on Thursday.

There will be more snow accumulations between 8 p.m. and 4 a.m., according to the weather service. In the most persistent lake snows, an average of 1 to 3 inches will fall.

“Be prepared for snow-covered and slick roads,” the weather agency cautions. “The weather during lake effect snow can range from dry conditions a few kilometers distant to bands of locally heavy snow with significantly limited visibility. Be ready for sudden changes in road conditions, visibility, and weather.

United Robots offers a service called Advance Local Weather Alerts that gathers the most recent information from the National Weather Service using machine learning.
