Kia recalls thousands of popular SUV models over risk of light failure

New York’s Staten Island. One of the most well-liked SUV models from the Kia Corporation is the subject of a safety recall.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the company has recalled some models of its Sorento, Sorento Hybrid, and Sorento Plug-In Hybrid cars because of electronic problems that may result in the loss of non-high beam headlights and taillights. Approximately 75,000 vehicles may be impacted.

The great majority of the 74,469 automobiles included in the recall are 2025 model years. On the other hand, some are 2024 model Sorento SUVs.

According to the recall notice, the primary cause of the recall is a software flaw in the internal computer systems of the cars that may result in the loss of low beam headlights and taillights, even when driving.

Hyundai will get in touch with the owners of the impacted cars and instruct them to take them to a dealership so that the problem may be fixed.

According to documentation the automaker submitted to the NHTSA, all owners of the affected vehicles would receive notice of the remedial program by first-class mail. Better software will be installed in the Body Domain Control Unit (BDC). In accordance with its General Reimbursement Plan, Kia will pay owners for repair costs previously incurred.

To find out if their vehicle is impacted by the recall, owners of Kia Sorentos can call either the NHTSA vehicle safety hotline at 1-888-327-4236 or Kia customer care at 1-800-333-4542.

In February, owners of impacted vehicles will receive notification letters from the automaker.
