At 7:05 p.m. on Sunday, the National Weather Service released a report predicting severe snowfall through 9 p.m. in Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Westchester, Nassau, Manhattan, the Bronx, Staten Island, Brooklyn, and Queens counties.
Before 9 p.m. today evening, moderate to severe snowfall is anticipated. This snow will build up in temperatures below freezing. The rate of snowfall will be close to one inch per hour. Local visibility will occasionally be lowered to around half to a quarter of a mile. Surfaces that are not treated will become slick. According to the weather service, drivers should be extremely cautious and travel more slowly, leaving more space between cars.
