NY weather update: Lake effect snow warning issued for Erie and Genesee counties until early Wednesday morning

At 4:38 p.m. on Monday, the National Weather Service issued an updated lake effect snow warning for Erie and Genesee counties, which would remain in force until Wednesday at 4 a.m.

“Heavy lake effect snow expected,” the weather service said. In the most persistent lake snows, the total snow accumulation ranges from 10 to 20 inches, with the largest accumulations coming from South Buffalo over the Buffalo Southtowns into southwestern Genesee County.

According to the weather service, “travel will be very difficult with very poor visibility and deep snow cover on roads.” “Relatively narrow bands of heavy snow will fall. When traveling, be ready for quickly shifting visibility and road conditions.

United Robots offers a service called Advance Local Weather Alerts that gathers the most recent information from the National Weather Service using machine learning.
