Popular Trump supporter already exiting high profile position

The first thing the Department of Government Efficiency did was to announce that there was only one leader left.

Hours after the Republican took office on Monday, officials announced that Vivek Ramaswamy is no longer a member of the panel that President Donald Trump supported. This means that billionaire Elon Musk is left to oversee the cost-cutting initiative by himself.

Biotech businessman Ramaswamy, who ran for the GOP presidential nomination in 2024, has hinted that he intends to run for governor of Ohio the following year. Before Ohio Governor Mike DeWine selected Lieutenant Governor Jon Husted as Vice President JD Vance’s successor, Ramaswamy, 39, a native of Cincinnati, had expressed interest in the recently vacant Senate seat.

According to a statement from the commission’s spokesperson, Anna Kelly, Vivek Ramaswamy was instrumental in our creation of DOGE. According to the structure we announced today, he plans to run for political office in the near future, which means he must stay outside of DOGE. We sincerely appreciate what he has done over the past two months, and we anticipate that he will be instrumental in restoring America to its former glory.

As part of his “Save America” strategy for his second term, Trump appointed Musk and Ramaswamy to head DOGE, a nonprofit task group tasked with finding ways to reduce federal regulations, cut programs, and fire federal employees.

In particular, Musk’s involvement has sparked ethical questions because SpaceX, the corporation he established and ran, competes with NASA for business and has significant defense contracts. Trump’s policies in government may potentially help his Tesla electric vehicle company and other commercial ventures.

Historically, when the public is faced with cuts to dependable services that millions of Americans rely on for everyday necessities, employment, health care, and military security, ambitious attempts to shrink the size and reach of the federal government have encountered opposition.

Ramaswamy, one of the wealthiest millennials in the world, amassed a fortune in biotechnology before focusing on politics. As a fervent opponent of identity politics and initiatives that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion, he gained notoriety on the right.

He has positioned himself as a prominent figure in Trump’s populist movement, “Make America Great Again.” He placed fourth in Iowa’s leadoff caucuses and endorsed Trump in the GOP primary.
