The National Weather Service revised its lake effect snow warning for Oswego County on Tuesday at 5:35 p.m., and it will remain in place until Wednesday at 1 p.m.
“Heavy lake effect snow,” the weather service remarks. The most persistent lake snows accumulate an additional 8 to 14 inches of snow.
“With extremely poor visibility and heavy snow cover on the roadways, travel will be extremely challenging. The weather agency also states that travel, including Interstate 81, will occasionally be difficult to impossible. “Think about postponing your trip. If you have to travel, drive very carefully. Give yourself more time to get to your destination and give yourself plenty of space between you and the car in front of you. Steer clear of abrupt acceleration or braking, and exercise extra caution when turning or going up slopes. Until the weather improves, you should remain inside. Wear layers if you must go outside. A bulky coat won’t keep you as warm as multiple layers of clothing. To lower the risk of hypothermia or frostbite, cover any exposed skin. Wearing a hat, scarf, and gloves will prevent you from losing body heat.
United Robots offers a service called Advance Local Weather Alerts that gathers the most recent information from the National Weather Service using machine learning.
