NY weather update: Lake effect snow warning for Jefferson and Lewis counties until Wednesday morning

The National Weather Service issued an updated lake effect snow warning for Jefferson and Lewis counties on Tuesday at 10:10 p.m., which will remain in place until Wednesday at 7 a.m.

“Heavy lake effect snow,” the weather service remarks. In the most persistent lake snows, which will cover the Tug Hill and far southern Jefferson County as well as western Lewis County, there will be additional snow accumulations of three to five inches.

According to the weather service, “travel will be very difficult to impossible with very poor visibility and deep snow cover on roads.” “Relatively narrow bands of heavy snow will fall. When traveling, be ready for quickly shifting visibility and road conditions.
