Dear Abby: He texts me all day but has nothing to say

Greetings, Abby

At twelve, I am in a relationship with a boy from my class. I understand your thoughts, but no, he is not forcing me to have sex or kiss. I have another issue. Texting! He chats with me all day and texts me in the morning. He frequently texts while engaging in an activity, such as flying a kite or going to the beach, and even apologizes for interrupting the text by getting into the ocean.

I have other things to do with my life, therefore I can’t spend too much time in contact. Even though I adore him, I don’t want to text EVERYONE for so long. Furthermore, none of us has anything more to say, thus our chats are becoming dull.

Hey Abby, I regret not being able to participate in the conversations. It’s not like he depends on me for amusement because he has a busy social life. He is a very kind man. This texting problem is the only one. What ought I to do? In California, there is excessive contact.

TOO MUCH:

Tell the boy the whole truth. Inform him that although you like him and believe he’s a genuinely great person, you have other things to do besides texting all the time. (That’s the reality.) Next, let him know when you would be happy to receive his texts. This is known as setting boundaries, and it’s a really smart idea to start at your age.
