At 3:05 a.m. on Saturday, the National Weather Service issued a high wind watch for Niagara, Orleans, Monroe, Erie, Genesee, Wyoming, and Chautauqua counties, which was in effect from Monday at 7 a.m. until Tuesday at 6 a.m.
“Southwest winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph possible,” the weather service reports. The Niagara Frontier is predicted to experience the highest wind gusts.
Power lines and trees could be brought down by strong winds. Power outages could occur in patches. The weather agency warns that travel could be challenging, particularly for well-known automobiles. Keep an eye on the most recent warnings and forecasts for any developments. Before the severe gusts start, secure or shelter items in a secure area.
