Consumers warned to not eat frozen chicken nuggets sold at Wegmans

Wegmans’ frozen, fully cooked breaded chicken breast nuggets have prompted the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) to issue a public health notice.

It’s possible that the nuggets include foreign objects, particularly pieces of bone.

To make sure that customers are informed that this product should not be consumed, FSIS is releasing the notice. Since the product is no longer on the market, no recall request was made.

On August 26, 2024, the completely cooked, frozen breaded chicken breast nugget items were manufactured. Wegmans FAMILY PACK FULLY COOKED Breaded Chicken Breast with Rib Meat that came in 46-ounce plastic packages were used to make the nuggets.

On the back, next to the barcode in the lower right corner, was the date that the packets were best used by, which was August 26, 2025. Wegmans Food Markets was the only customer for which this product was made.

Retail stores in Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington, D.C., received the merchandise.

Following several customer complaints of bone fragments in Wegmans’ frozen fully cooked breaded chicken breast nugget product, FSIS was alerted to the problem.

Since there have been no verified reports of harm from using these products, anyone who is worried about being hurt should speak with a doctor.

Some items may be in consumers’ freezers, according to FSIS. The products are not to be consumed by those who have already bought them. You should either return the nuggets to the store where you bought them or toss them away.
