Come to the annual Groundhog Day Ceremony at the Staten Island Zoo, where you can meet the legendary Staten Island Chuck! Will he forecast six more weeks of winter or an early spring? Find out when Chuck makes his major decision at 8:30 a.m. Enjoy an exciting morning with special visitors, such as community leaders and local politicians, as well as student involvement from Susan E. Wagner High School, who will assist in monitoring Chuck’s forecast all season long. Local theater stars James McKeon and Cara S. Liander will emcee this year’s event, which is sure to be plenty of humor and vigor. Don’t pass on this fascinating custom!

Hibernation Hike on Groundhog Day, February 2, 10–11 a.m.

In this informative wildlife viewing excursion, which includes games and activities, you will learn how birds, groundhogs, squirrels, chipmunks, and other creatures endure the cold and snow.
