Fire at home on Staten Island prompts large FDNY response

New York’s Staten Island. On Thursday afternoon, the FDNY was called to a fire at a residence in New Springville.

A representative for the New York City incident Department said the incident was reported at 2:08 p.m. inside a home located at 32 Orbit Lane close to Rockland Avenue.

Sixty firefighters, emergency medical services, and twelve fire engines arrived on the site. There was a ladder from the Fire Department extended into the house’s second level.

According to the FDNY spokeswoman, there were no reported injuries.

According to the spokesperson, fire marshals are looking into what caused the incident, and firefighters were able to contain it by 2:32 p.m.

The FDNY battalion chief on the scene stated, “We think it started in the clothes dryer and that it overheated there and then came a little bit of an extension outside not much.” We have a good feeling that’s what it was.
