NY weather: Be prepared for rain and snow in New York Friday evening

At 5:04 p.m. on Friday, the National Weather Service issued a weather notice for Schenectady, Saratoga, Albany, and Rensselaer counties, predicting rain and snow through 7 p.m.

Early this evening, rain is turning to wet snow around the broader Capital District, which will have an impact on the evening commute. As soon as the change takes place, snow will begin to immediately pile on roads. Snow accumulation is predicted to range from a few to several inches. When driving this evening, drivers are advised to use caution and be ready for low visibility and snow-covered roadways. The meteorological service reports that a Winter meteorological Advisory will remain in force until 4 a.m. on Saturday.

United Robots offers a service called Advance Local Weather Alerts that gathers the most recent information from the National Weather Service using machine learning.
