Hazardous icy cemetery sidewalk finally cleared after DSNY pressure| Advance gets action

New York’s Staten Island. Since it is unclear who is to blame, travelers have been left to cope with the dangerous circumstances at the abandoned Heart of Jesus and Lake/Sylvie Cemeteries in Port Richmond Center, where 311 complaints have been made concerning icy pathways that have frozen after not being shoveled.

The sidewalk has been a persistent issue for years and has not been fixed, according to a tipster who informed Advance/SILive.com of the situation almost a week after the year’s first snowfall. According to NYC OpenData, the location has been the focus of at least five distinct 311 complaints since 2018.
