Milk recall: Throw out this brand of organic milk sold in 3 states immediately

Because of the possibility of premature spoiling, Horizon Organic Dairy is recalling thousands of cases of its shelf-stable organic milk.

The Colorado-based dairy company is recalling 19,688 boxes of Horizon Organic Aseptic Plain Whole Milk, an 8-ounce 12-pack, because heat damage during processing may cause the product to degrade too soon.

Horizon informed Food & Wine that corrective and preventative measures have been put in place to stop recurrence. No other Horizon Organic products are impacted by this voluntary recall, which has nothing to do with pathogen contamination, allergens, or microbes.

The milk was delivered in Arizona, California, and Nevada, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

The milk’s sell-by dates are March 3, 4, 6, and March 7, 2025, and its UPC numbers are 3663207113 for 12-packs and 3663207127 for single units.

As of January 17, 2025, the FDA has categorized this as a Class II recall due to the product’s potential to have short-term or medically treatable negative health effects.

For inquiries concerning this recall, call Horizon Dairy at 1-888-494-3020, Monday through Friday, excluding holidays, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CT.
