New York’s Staten Island. This week, all three of Staten Island’s Community Boards will host public meetings to discuss issues like preserving a Dongan Hills parcel for stormwater management and turning an abandoned St. George building into senior apartments.
There will also be a presentation on the Community Agency for Senior Citizens’ offerings.
According to information provided by officials of the three Community Boards on Staten Island, the scheduled meetings are listed below.
Community Board 1
On Tuesday, February 4, at 6:30 p.m., Community Board 1 will have a Land Use Public Hearing where community members will hear a presentation regarding the renovation of a long-vacant St. George building into apartments for individuals 55 and older.
Zoom will be used for the virtual meeting.
The chief urban planner, Philip L. Rampulla, will go over the specifics of the enlargement required to convert 78 Fort Place during the discussion.
In 1962, the current building was constructed as a convent with sleeping quarters for the Daughters of St. Paul Congregation. The location is in both the Special Hillside Preservation District and an R3A District.
99 apartment units, ranging in size from studios to one bedrooms, are proposed. There will be twenty supplementary off-street parking spots available.
The property is an inside lot and corner lot fronting Daniel Low Terrace, Fort Place, and Sherman Avenue.
The ID for the meeting is 275 566 6837. This is the passcode: E3sv3p.
Community Board 2
Additionally, on Tuesday, February 4 at 7 p.m., Community Board 2 will have a public hearing on land use in the first-floor conference room at 1100 South Ave. You may view it on Zoom as well.
In order to further the Best Management Practices program, the Department of Citywide Administrative Services and the NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) have proposed a project at a location at 1919 Hylan Blvd., Dongan Hills.
As part of the Bluebelt program of best management practices, the city wants to purchase a piece of a privately held commercial zoning lot and add it to the nearby DEP-owned zoning lot that has been enhanced by the agency to better manage stormwater in the area.
Members of the board will meet in person. For Zoom viewers, the passcode is 430773.
Community Board 3
On Tuesday, February 4 at 7 p.m., a representative of the Community Agency for Senior Citizens (CASC) will address a Health & Human Services Committee Meeting/Public Hearing on the organization and the services it offers to the elderly population of Staten Island.
The Traffic & Transportation Committee is hosting a meeting/public hearing on Wednesday, February 5 at 7 p.m. The agenda isn’t predetermined.
The Community Board 3 office, located on the second floor at 1243 Woodrow Road, will host both meetings.
