Staten Island HS wrestling: Petrides advances to PSAL 2A finals by beating New Dorp in semis

With a commanding 52-18 semifinal victory over New Dorp on its home mat Saturday in Sunnyside, Petrides has officially more than justified its promotion from single A to its maiden season in the PSAL 2A division, making it all the way to the division’s playoff finals.

As the top seed in the division, the Panthers earned the right to host half of the 2A playoff bracket. After dominating at home, they will now play James Madison in the playoffs on Tuesday night at a neutral location. In the other Brooklyn semifinal, Madison defeated Tottenville, the incumbent city champion and number three seed, 40-28.
