#fyiSI returns to the Staten Island Advance. And we want to hear from you!

New York’s Staten Island. In recent years, the world as we know it has transformed.

Staten Island has also done so.

Inflation, civil unrest, and a worldwide pandemic are a few examples, but those are on a larger scale. The larger picture is at play.

However, Staten Island hasn’t altered all that much on a local level. We continue to gripe about gridlock on the Staten Island Expressway, condemn potholes, bemoan garbage pickups, and wonder when city agencies will fulfill their commitments.

I can help with it.

I was raised on Staten Island, so I am familiar with the problems that the borough has, like as roadways that aren’t plowed or sidewalks that have been torn up.

However, I’d want to hear your tales. What headache-causing issues do you face on a daily basis?

Does nuisance flooding negatively impact your quality of life? Are you late for work because traffic has been snagging your block for so long? Are you waiting for the bus on a sidewalk?

Continue reading if you answered “yes” to any of those questions.

Here’s the point, #fyiSI

Following the October 2018 debut of #fyiSI, the Advance received dozens of inquiries from readers about anything related to Staten Island.

We’re going to keep answering questions now, and we’re asking you to ask us anything—anything, Staten Island, that is.

With the occasional assistance of my coworkers, I will address any of your urgent inquiries regarding the 479,458-person borough that we all call home through #fyiSI.

How to reach out

What matters most to Staten Islanders but don’t make national headlines is what I want to hear from all of you about.
