NY weather: Special weather statement issued for New York until 1 a.m. Tuesday

The National Weather Service issued a special weather statement for Oneida, Yates, Seneca, Cayuga, Onondaga, Schuyler, Tompkins, Madison, Cortland, Chenango, and Otsego counties on Monday at 10 p.m., which will remain in force until Tuesday at 1 a.m.

“A cold front is sweeping over the region, bringing with it pockets of freezing rain, snow, and sleet. Travel conditions could become slick due to a light coating of snow and/or ice on elevated surfaces, untreated roads, sidewalks, and driveways. The weather service advises travelers to exercise caution this evening.
