New York’s Staten Island. In order to allow as many people as possible to celebrate Thanksgiving or watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, most businesses and government offices will be closed on Thursday. However, a few establishments will remain open for last-minute grocery and medicinal needs.
Many grocery stores will be open on Thursday if you need to pick up a forgotten holiday need or want to buy a prepared dinner.However, there aren’t many options if you want to do your holiday shopping on Thanksgiving because many stores have extended hours on Black Friday.

CleanlinessNo recycling, no waste collection, and no street cleaning. Items should be placed outside Thursday evening for pickup starting Friday, Nov. 29 if the resident’s trash or compost collection day is Thursday.
For pickup on Thursday, December 5, residents who typically receive Thursday recycling collection should hang onto their materials and bring them curbside on Wednesday, December 4.
