The National Weather Service issued an updated lake effect snow warning for Oswego, Jefferson, and Lewis counties on Thursday at 9:55 a.m., which is in place from Friday at 7 a.m. to Monday at 7 p.m.
“Heavy lake effect snow expected,” the weather service said. The most persistent lake snows accumulate 3 to 4 feet of snow overall. Between Watertown and the northern slopes of the Tug Hill plateau, the greatest snow accumulations are anticipated.
“With the band’s heaviest members, travel will be extremely challenging, if not impossible. The meteorological service says the dangerous conditions will affect Friday morning and evening commutes. “The weather during lake effect snow can range from dry conditions a few kilometers distant to bands of locally heavy snow with significantly limited visibility. Be ready for sudden changes in road conditions, visibility, and weather. Think about postponing your trip. If you have to travel, drive very carefully. Give yourself more time to get to your destination and give yourself plenty of space between you and the car in front of you. Steer clear of abrupt acceleration or braking, and exercise extra caution when turning or going up slopes.
United Robots offers a service called Advance Local Weather Alerts that gathers the most recent information from the National Weather Service using machine learning.
