STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — This week’s Best Dressed photo collection showcases pictures from the annual Father Drumgoole Dinner & Awards Ceremony, which took place at the Historic Old Bermuda Inn in Rossville on October 24 and was attended by over 350 attendees.
A sit-down dinner, raffles, and an emotional performance were all part of the sophisticated evening of appreciation, celebration, and acknowledgment for outstanding people and organizations that have significantly impacted the Staten Island community.
According to Joe Delaney, chairman of the board of Catholic Charities of Staten Island, the Father Drumgoole Dinner is a chance to unite Staten Island residents who support the organization’s purpose. The meal is a celebration of neighborly assistance.
This year’s honorees included: NYPD Lt. Steven Jerome, who was given the Murphy Award for his exceptional service; Anthony Curcio, who was given the Duval Award for his accomplishments and dedication; Ben Navarrete, who was given the Joseph Madory Award for his influential work; and Kathleen Cudahy, who was given the Drumgoole Award for her exceptional community contributions.
The NYPD’s Det. Jarrod Zinnanti and Christina Bungay received Catholic Charities of Staten Island Service Awards for their steadfast dedication to service, while Caiden Gnerre was honored as the Monsignor Peter Finn Award recipient. Bishop Edmund Whalen received recognition for his community service and leadership as well.
Due to their exceptional influence on their students’ lives and their commitment to education, Sandra Burfeind of the Academy of St. Dorothy and Mark DeCristoforo of St. Peter’s Boys High School were recognized as Educators of the Year.
As the master of ceremonies for the evening, Massimo DiDonna led guests through a celebration full of friendship and homage. Along with the awards, attendees took part in a special raffle for two tickets to the Nov. 23 Notre Dame vs. Army football game at Yankee Stadium.
