The National Weather Service issued an updated lake effect snow warning for Genesee County on Saturday at 10:10 p.m., which is in place until Sunday at 7 p.m.
“Heavy lake effect snow,” the weather service reports. The southwest region of the county experiences additional snow accumulations of 4 to 8 inches in the most persistent lake snows.
“Travel will be very difficult in lake effect snowbands with poor visibility and snow covered roads,” the weather agency says. “Relatively narrow bands of heavy snow will fall. When traveling, be ready for quickly shifting visibility and road conditions. The weather during lake effect snow might range from dry conditions a few kilometers distant to bands of locally heavy snow with significantly impaired visibility. Be ready for sudden changes in road conditions, visibility, and weather.
United Robots offers a service called Advance Local Weather Alerts that gathers the most recent information from the National Weather Service using machine learning.
