500 turkeys donated to Staten Island families at the Gerard Carter Center

New York’s Staten Island. The Amazin Mets Foundation partnered with The New York Foundling, a 155-year-old community partner that provides opportunities and activities to over 30,000 persons in New York and Puerto Rico, to distribute 500 turkeys to Staten Island families.

The Thanksgiving-themed giveaway, known as Metsgiving, took place at the Gerard Carter Center, located at 230 Broad Street, from 1 to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 19.

Staten Islanders expressed their gratitude for being able to provide their families with a holiday meal during the event, which drew about 500 individuals, according to The New York Foundling.

A large assortment of side dishes, canned goods, bread, and desserts were available in addition to the turkeys that were provided for the community. Live music was also played, which entertained everyone and added to the joyful environment.
