New York’s Staten Island — For many years, Japanese culture has been widely accepted in the US through the media, food, and fashion. By showcasing Japanese cuisine and music at special events in Paris and New York City, JAPAN Fes carries on this tradition. People can volunteer to help set up the event and meet friends at the fairs, which introduce people to Japanese culture and provide a space where they can freely engage.

As the movement spread outside of New York City with events in New Jersey and Paris this past fall, this year was historic for JAPAN Fes. On Saturday, December 7, Midtown Manhattan will host a Winter Market to commemorate the year. According to Mariam Ali Mohsin, a project manager for JAPAN Fes, the market will include more than 30 of JAPAN Fes’s traditional merchants, and the event, which runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., is intended to be a celebration of everyone who has helped make JAPAN Fes possible.

The market will be located between Third and Lexington Avenues on East 45th Street.

According to Mayumi Tiffany Tomita, director of marketing and operations at JAPAN Fes, the Winter Market will be the first event of its kind to be held in December and will have lights to shoot and a nighttime festival ambiance. Join us on Saturday, December 7th to celebrate!

Since its inception in 2016, JAPAN Fes has established itself as a mainstay in New York City’s street festival landscape, attracting audiences keen to immerse themselves in genuine Japanese culture.

According to Tomita, JAPAN Fes is crucial to her ability to maintain her ties to Japanese culture. With Japanese vendors presenting traditional Japanese food and other vendors fusing elements of Japanese culture with their own offerings, she compared the event to a California roll, providing both an authentic and distinctive perspective on Japanese culture.

Additionally, JAPAN Fes has a Discord server, a virtual community area that acts as a communication center for volunteers and a meeting spot for individuals from all over the world who are interested in Japanese culture.

Additionally, Dragon Yamamoto, the founder and CEO of JAPAN Fes, founded J-Kuru, a group of Japanese language and culture lovers in New York City, which provides a forum for individuals interested in learning Japanese to interact.

A vibrant community has emerged as a result of the hard work of the event’s committed staff, bringing people together via a mutual interest in and engagement with Japanese culture.

Offering a taste of Japan and establishing a space for Japanese culture enthusiasts to connect and engage, JAPAN Fes has established itself as a mainstay in New York City. Go to the JAPAN Fes website at www.japanfes.com to learn more about the market.
