‘Screamboat’ movie turns Pete Davidson and Colin Jost’s Staten Island Ferry into a floating nightmare

New York’s Staten Island. When the historic Staten Island Ferry appears in the upcoming horror comedy Screamboat, it becomes a terrifying setting for tension and fear.

Steamboat Willie is being reimagined as a horror comedy by the same people that produced Terrifiers 2 and 3 and The Mean One.

The first iteration of Disney’s Mickey Mouse character, Steamboat Willie, went public on January 1. This modification allowed the makers of the horror film to recast Steamboat Willie in a slasher thriller.

Variety and the official description of the movie state that Screamboat centers on a group of travelers who take a late-night ferry voyage. When a cunning mouse goes on a rampage, the ride becomes a desperate struggle for survival, and the team must unite.

According to reports, the movie will be released in January 2025; the exact date has not yet been set.

The entire Screamboat movie was shot on the decommissioned John F. Kennedy ferryboat, which was owned by Saturday Night Live performers Pete Davidson and Colin Jost, according to TMZ.

The ferry was bought by Davidson and Jost in 2022 for $280,100 at an online public auction. Jost has since jokingly said that it was the most foolish and ill-considered purchase she has ever made.

When the orange vessel was first acquired, it was intended to serve as a live entertainment venue. Earlier this year, it even played home to the Tommy Hilfiger fashion show. It has now assumed a new function as the spooky, action-packed set of the next movie, Screamboat.
