‘Pardon me’ . . . when it takes on a whole new meaning | From the editor

Hello, Neighbor

Alright, enough is enough.

Please, everyone, quit wringing your hands over Joe Biden’s pardon of his son.

The same thing would have been done by our president-elect.

Indeed, he did. Nearly. Obama did the same. Bushes 41 and 43, too. But none of their sons were the recipients of those pardons. Donald Trump did pardon the father of his son-in-law. His half-brother was pardoned by Bill Clinton. Jimmy Hoffa was pardoned by Dick Nixon.

Gerald Ford also pardoned Dick Nixon, which is arguably the greatest pardon ever.

Discuss who you know rather than what you know.

This is not to imply that it is the proper course of action. In the latter days of an administration, it is actually now on the agenda as the president approaches the end of his term.

Friends are forgiven. Donors to campaigns are pardoned. Additionally, it makes it possible for the new president to pardon the January 6 hostages, as he refers to them, even though the door was already open.

It’s more like terrorists.

What’s so concerning about all of this is that cynical Americans who always complain that politicians are dishonest are correct.

When Joe Biden repeatedly reassured us that he would not pardon his son, did anyone actually believe him? Joe reassured America in June, shortly after Hunter’s conviction, that he does prioritize the American legal system over family.

The president informed us in June that he would accept the case’s verdict and uphold the legal system while Hunter considered an appeal.

When Donald Trump claimed to have little to no knowledge of Project 2025—the blueprint intended to change America into his vision of it—did anyone really believe him?

Not to mention Haitians consuming dogs or the 2020 election that was rigged.

Democrats are able to dizzy over Hunter’s pardon. The Biden family narrative is tragic, it’s true. In a terrible vehicle accident, Joe lost both his wife and daughter. His son died of brain cancer. Hunter nearly died of drug addiction.

Hunter is a criminal, though. He didn’t pay $1.4 million in taxes until he was forced to, and he lied to obtain a gun. In addition, he made millions of dollars abroad by using his family name.

He might have received a 25-year sentence, but he wouldn’t have.

Pop probably would have pardoned him anyhow, but when Donald Trump won the election after promising to exact revenge on all of his rivals, the pardon became inevitable.

The old guy must have shuddered to think of his son in federal jail with the Justice Department under Trump’s leadership. Water and bread would have been extravagances.

Joe pardoned his child for all known and unknown federal offenses committed during the previous ten years because he knew Hunter would have been a Trump target.

The incoming commander-in-chief understood what he had to do when Donald sensed the winds against Project 2025 on the other side of the aisle.

Disavow lying.

He answered, “I have nothing to do with it.”He referred to several of the ideas as “completely absurd.” He did, therefore, dread it!

In addition, many of his former White House employees were authors or collaborators, and some were selected to serve on his team or in the Trump 2025 Cabinet.

Some, such as Kash Patel, Trump’s choice to lead the FBI, have a similar attitude, even if they are not directly related to Project 2025.

Patel wrote his own book, The Plot Against the King, which is actually a trilogy. It begins with Hillary Queenton and her cunning knight disseminating false information about King Donald’s infidelity.

You know, clever? Our next FBI director might be this, neighbors.

To complete the circle, the current president and his supporters have denied Trump’s allegations that the Justice Department is politicized under the Biden administration and are now accusing the department of being politicized.

The man who for years maintained the integrity of the process stated, “I believe in the justice system, but as I wrestled with this, I also believe raw politics have infected this process and it led to a miscarriage of justice.”

What’s the end result?

As evidenced by the fact that our mayor, Eric Adams, is already facing federal charges of bribery and illicit advantages from foreign nationals, the Justice Department has become politicized and indicted him for criticizing the Biden border policy.

Recently, Tom, a neighbor from Midland Beach, asked me if I thought the Democrats were headed in the wrong direction.

I have to agree with the Democrats when they referred to the disastrous campaign as a Biden-and-then-Harris presidential campaign. Indeed, they are.

But now that I see all of this, I worry that not just Democrats are heading in the wrong path.

It’s our nation.

By the way, only at the federal level does President Biden’s broad pardon of his son count. Dad had best hope Hunter didn’t get a parking ticket in a place where the governor is Republican. Because Hunter’s federal pardon has no state-level significance, and you know that Donald’s Justice Department will be investigating.
