Staten Island HS boys’ hoops (4 games): SIA tightens the screws defensively to top New Dorp; Sea edges Salesian

When the Tigers drove to New Dorp to play the Centrals in a non-league game on Saturday afternoon, Staten Island Academy was facing a double-digit first-quarter deficit and a poor offensive start. But during the remainder of the game, the Tigers calmed down and played strong defense, winning 46-39 after a fierce battle to improve their season record to 3-2.

Juniors Danny Nowak and Arion Draga each contributed eight markers, while senior Sean Litkenhaus topped SIA with nine points.
