CNN anchor surprises audience by announcing she’s leaving network

CNN’s most recent anchor to depart was Alisyn Camerota.

Born in New Jersey, Camerota has spent ten years working for the cable news network.

During her final show on Sunday afternoon, she informed viewers, “I just want to take a moment to share some personal news before we go on this very busy news day.”

My time on CNN is coming to an end today. Over the past ten or more years, I’ve had so many amazing chances here. I’ve experienced the kind of high-profile professional experiences I’ve dreamed of since I was a teenager—interviewing presidents, heroes, and remarkable people.

The 58-year-old Camerota was raised in Shrewsbury.

She co-hosted America’s News Headquarters, Fox & Friends Weekend, and Fox & Friends First during her 16 years at Fox News before to joining CNN. In 2017, Camerota was one of several women who accused ousted Fox News CEO Roger Ailes of sexual harassment.

Camerota was the anchor of CNN Tonight with Laura Coates and Jake Tapper, CNN Newsroom with Victor Blackwell, and CNN New Day.

In heron-air farewell, Camerota stated that the CNN journalists are the best in the entire news industry and that it has been an honor to work with them. Being in your homes during some of the most significant events of our lives over the past ten years is also an honor. When a viewer approaches me and tells me that I helped them get through these trying times, I’m always moved. Therefore, I’m excited to do a lot more of that with you.

She also released a debrief there following her formal farewell to CNN.

She declared, “I’m on to new horizons.” I’ll only offer this pearl of wisdom: When you’re ready, new experiences are wonderful. So, I swear, I’ll be in contact shortly.
