NYPD: Individual sought for questioning in connection to shooting death of Staten Island man, 36

New York’s Staten Island. In relation to the shooting murder of a Staten Island man in the Bronx last week, the NYPD is requesting the public’s help in identifying a person who is wanted for interrogation.

The person in question is characterized as a man with a hefty build and a black complexion. According to authorities, he was last seen sporting black jeans, black Crocs, and a dark-colored hooded hoodie.

The wanted person’s surveillance photo was made public by the NYPD.

According to a statement from the NYPD’s Deputy Commissioner of Public Information, police responded to a 911 call of an attack in the 600 block of E. 223rd Street near White Plains Road at approximately 3:34 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 5 and discovered the 36-year-old victim with a gunshot wound to his head.

Melquan Johnson of Grymes Hill has been recognized by the police as the victim.

According to authorities, the investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made.

Johnson was charged with assault, robbery, disorderly conduct, property damage, trespassing, criminal mischief, and threats, according to court records. Johnson had been arraigned in White Plains City Court in Westchester many times between August and October. Whether any of these instances had anything to do with his death is unknown.
