New York’s Staten Island. When it comes to mailing cards and delivering gifts to family and friends, it’s easy to go behind schedule during the holiday rush of entertaining, shopping, and wrapping.
The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) has announced its suggested domestic, international, and military deadlines for 2024, regardless of whether you’re delivering holiday cards and gifts for Christmas (December 25), Hanukkah (December 25 through January 2), Kwanzaa (December 26 through January 1), or other holiday customs.
Additionally, many of the 2024 shipping deadlines are approaching, even though some have already passed.
The USPS always recommends, “Don’t delay, mail and ship today.” The earlier you send, the better.
Here are the forthcoming dates for delivery by December 25.
Contiguous U.S. (lower 48 states)
USPS Ground Advantage Service, Domestic Mail: December 18
Mail Service First-Class: December 18
Mail Service Priority: December 19
Express Priority Mail Service: December 21

The Priority Mail Service and First-Class Service deadlines for international shipping have already passed.
Additionally, because of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers’ strike, international mail service to Canada is temporarily suspended as of Nov. 29.
The following are Priority Mail Express International Service’s remaining deadlines:
Australia/New Zealand, the Caribbean, Europe, Mexico, the Middle East, and Asia/Pacific Rim: December 16
Military Mail
Here is what’s left, even if many of the dates for anticipated delivery before December 25 have passed:
ZIP Codes for APO/FPO/DPO: 090-092, 094-099, 340, 962-966: December 16
The USPS issued a warning earlier this year to anyone who ship things that should never be sent in the mail.
