New York’s Staten Island. An extensive FDNY response was called Thursday afternoon to a fire at a Port Richmond apartment complex.
According to emergency radio communications, the fire broke out at approximately midday at a multi-story structure located at 137 Heberton Ave. close to Vreeland Street.
The second and third levels of the structure looked to have sustained significant burn damage.
The front lawn was covered in what looked like burnt rubble, and several windows were broken out.
Ladders were extended to the upper stories of the building by the FDNY.
There were residents outside the building who appeared to have fled. To keep warm, one woman was wrapped in a sheet.
The Red Cross was present, and the FDNY could be seen assessing the residents.
