Commuter alerts: Delays on Staten Island Railway, Outerbridge Crossing, Goethals Bridge

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. The Staten Island Railway is experiencing delays during the Tuesday morning rush hour.

The Goethals Bridge to Staten Island and the Outerbridge Crossing are also said to be congested.

The 7:03 a.m. local journey from St George to Great Kills and the 7.30 a.m. local route from Great Kills to St George were canceled due to a train technical fault. The MTA website states that the problem has been fixed.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey reports that traffic is backing up onto the Goethals due to a traffic bottleneck on the Staten Island Expressway Brooklyn bound.

511 NY reports that traffic on the Staten Island Expressway eastbound is jammed to at least Woolley Avenue.

The Port Authority claims that high volume is the cause of the Outerbridge’s delays.
