New York’s Staten Island. According to an FDNY representative, a fireman was hurt Friday night while responding to an emergency response to a fire at Staten Island Technical High School in New Dorp.
Following the complaint at approximately 7:03 p.m. Friday, the spokesperson said that twelve units, including 60 fire and EMS personnel, arrived at the site at 485 Clawson St.
By 7:30 p.m., no smoke or flames that would suggest an ongoing fire were visible from the outside. However, according to the FDNY, the fire wasn’t formally contained until 7:47 p.m. According to the spokeswoman, the cause of the fire is being investigated.
The FDNY official stated that the injured firefighter declined medical assistance.
A hose was spotted being run through a Lindbergh Avenue school door, and a ladder was visible being extended to the school’s rooftop.
There were bells and alarms ringing throughout the school, and many of the lights were on. Following the answer, at least a few windows on the third story were being opened.
During the emergency, a second ladder was also visible in the back of the school, reaching the third storey.
