Friend provides update on family burned out of Staten Island home; toddler improving

New York’s Staten Island. According to a close friend, the family who just lost their Graniteville home in a fire is gradually getting better.

Isaiah Pereles, 25, has been coworkers of Christopher Guzzo, the proprietor of Making MemorEase Event Management, since Pereles started working there at the age of 16. In addition to being one of the people hurt in Friday’s fire at 267 Ada Drive, Isaiah is the father of Ian, a 2-year-old toddler who was declared critically ill following the incident.

Ian has been receiving care in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit since the fire, and according to Guzzo, he is doing better every day.

The Pereles family includes Isaiah and Ian as well as Isaiah’s stepson, 5-year-old Greyson, and fiance, Julissa. However, the property is also occupied by other family members, such as Isaiah’s stepfather, Angel, and mother, Maileen.

The family had to turn to the Red Cross for assistance after losing their house, and they are currently staying in a room at a hotel on Staten Island.

According to Guzzo, both Isaiah and Angel needed medical attention for burns they received from the fire. According to him, both males were recently released from the hospital.

Guzzo revealed that although both men suffered severe burns, Ian was the one with the most severe injuries because the toddler was only one room away from the basement’s raging fire.

After the incident, the FDNY on the scene described the valiant actions of the firefighters who were able to pass Ian through a window and save him from the basement. Guzzo claims that in an attempt to protect his son, Isaiah hurried outside, retrieved a hose, and started fighting the fire through the basement window before firefighters could reach the site.

The family has been forced to almost start again, despite being lucky enough to escape with their lives intact. In addition to losing their home, they also had everything burned, including toys, clothing, and private papers.

Following this destruction, Guzzo organized a GoFundMe and gathered supplies for the Pereles pack in an effort to show support for Isaiah and his family during their difficult time. The fundraiser has raised over $10,000 of its $50,000 target as of Thursday afternoon.

Guzzo continued, “With Isaiah, there’s just a loyalty and he’s just a good person.” He’s twenty-five years old, a dedicated worker who looks after his stepson and has his own son.

The Pereles family will be helped during their time of need by the money raised through the GoFundMe, which will enable them to buy food, clothing, and other essentials.

“Isaiah has been a valued employee of mine for the past ten years, so this is very personal to me,” Guzzo wrote in the GoFundMe. He and his family have grown to be so much more than just a coworker to me throughout that period. I am deeply affected by this scenario, which affects not only me and my loved ones but also our business, the events sector, and all of his family and friends.

The family hasn’t spoken much publicly, but Guzzo said, “I talk to them every day, and they are really grateful for all the support that has been given since this happened.”

Guzzo would like to express his gratitude to Feel The Beat Entertainment, Level Productions, Events Custom Taylored, and The Carl V. Bini Memorial Fund for their contributions to support the Pereles family.
