New York’s Staten Island. According to AccuWeather analyst Alyssa Glenny, those in New York who are terrified of the rainy weather expected for this week will be relieved to learn that Monday will not see the worst of the storm reach the city.
According to the meteorologist, AccuWeather’s overall prognosis for the Staten Island and New York City area is a coating to an inch of snow on the borough.
“That should arrive in your area tomorrow after nine or ten a.m.,” Glenny remarked. The most of the day will pass. The city will see highs of 31 degrees and lows of 21 degrees tomorrow.
Additionally, a northwest breeze of 10 to 30 mph is possible on Monday night.
“You can actually see this storm moving across portions of the central U.S. and into the Tennessee valley and Ohio valley when you look at the weather radar,” Glenny said. They won’t get the worst of the snowfall because that will continue to move eastward before shifting offshore and clipping the New York City Staten Island area.
According to her, the snow should be gone in the city by around five or seven o’clock.
Another storm later this week?
Glenny predicted that high pressure would sweep in after the storm passed. Although the high pressure center will remain west of the city, you will see drier conditions starting on Tuesday.
The weather is predicted to stay around the same after that, with highs in the lower to mid-20s and lows close to freezing.
As the week progresses, we are keeping an eye out for the possibility of another storm coming from the south by Friday or Saturday, according to Glenny, even if it is still rather breezy in most places. We’re still closely monitoring that.
Depending on how far north the system moves, there is a possibility that at least snowflakes will reach the region, according to Glenny.
According to Glenny, there might be a chance of a coating or a few inches of snow.
The winds throughout the area will be strong enough to potentially affect flights, she added, even if there is only a layer of snow in the city tomorrow or later this week.
