NYC Road Rage Incident Leaves Innocent Bystander Fatally Stabbed!

BRONX, N.Y. – In a tragic incident that has left a Bronx family in profound grief, a father was fatally stabbed by a road-raging assailant during a chaotic altercation on Tuesday. The senseless violence, which unfolded outside a bodega in Morris Heights, has not only claimed the life of 29-year-old Ronald Gomez-Mesa but also cast a shadow of despair over his loved ones.

The deadly confrontation began around 4:30 p.m. after a minor car accident between a woman and a man outside Jason Deli and Grocery on West Tremont Avenue and Phelan Place. According to law enforcement sources, the woman involved in the fender-bender called her boyfriend, who arrived at the scene and began to engage aggressively with bystanders.

Surveillance video captured the escalating tension. In the footage, a woman can be seen wielding a bat while a man, described as skulking around the area, appears to confront another individual near the crash site. The scene grew more chaotic when a helmet-wearing man threw an object at the skulker before riding off on a moped.

The situation deteriorated further when the skulking man turned his aggression towards the gathered crowd. He shoved an apparently uninvolved bystander to the ground and began throwing punches. The violence then targeted Ronald Gomez-Mesa, who was sitting nearby.

In the video, Gomez-Mesa can be seen standing up and defending himself by throwing punches. Despite his efforts to protect himself, the attacker pulled out a knife and chased Gomez-Mesa down the street, fatally stabbing him in front of a daycare center on Phelan Place.

Medics rushed Gomez-Mesa, who lived about a half-mile from the scene, to St. Barnabas Hospital. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead upon arrival. The attacker fled the scene and, as of Wednesday, had not been apprehended by the police.

The aftermath of this tragic event has left Gomez-Mesa’s family and the local community in mourning. His sister, Ronaysi, expressed the family’s unbearable pain and uncertainty about the future. “I don’t know how we will go on,” she told The Post. “No one can imagine the pain we are going through.”

Ronaysi recounted the profound loss felt by their mother, who wailed inconsolably for hours inside their family home, located not far from where the tragic incident occurred.

Gomez-Mesa was a devoted father to his young daughter, Rosalia, who is turning three this year. His sister emphasized the depth of their loss, stating, “Whoever killed Ronald took away a loving son, brother, and father.”

The community’s outpouring of grief was visible at the makeshift shrine set up outside the bodega where the violence erupted. About 30 lit candles, along with six opened beer cans, adorned the sidewalk, spelling out Ronald’s name in wax. Rafael Castillo, who manages a nearby bodega, spoke highly of Gomez-Mesa, describing him as a “quiet guy” who was well-liked by everyone.

Gomez-Mesa’s journey to the United States from the Dominican Republic at the age of 16 was marked by hard work and dedication to his family. He lived with his parents, his sister Ronaysi, and her children in Morris Heights.

Just a week before his tragic death, Gomez-Mesa had passed his TLC driver’s license test, a significant achievement he hoped would provide better opportunities for his daughter, Rosalia. “He loved his daughter so much,” Ronaysi said, highlighting his devotion to his family.
