New York’s Staten Island. Every year, the Pakistani-American community honors the spirit of the holidays by giving the Trinity Baptist Church, the Stapleton Union American Methodist Episcopal (U.A.M.E.) Church, and this year, the Salvation Army, a hot buffet supper.
The event is a great success thanks to donations from Pakistani-American community board members and volunteers who have been a part of the 21-year-old tradition of feeding over 600 Staten Islanders dinners.
American and international specialties, including meatballs, linguini, baked ziti, rice, chicken curry, mixed veggies, chana masala, and other drinks, cakes, and desserts, were featured on this year’s supper menu.
Additionally, toys were given out for kids to play with.
The Pakistani-Civic Association’s president, Dr. Mohammad Khalid, praised the Pakistani-American community and board members Al Curtis and Councilwoman Kamillah Hanks for attending the holiday celebration.
Additionally, sponsors were Taimoor Khan of Alhumza Restaurant and Saquib Khan, manager of Manor Superette and Bagels.
Dr. Khalid said that being able to have a Christmas meal with our fellow countrymen is a favor from God. I would want to greet everyone a happy new year and a lovely holiday season on behalf of the Pakistani-American Community.
