2 men, ages 24 and 18, arrested in afternoon shootout at Staten Island park

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Sources claim that two males engaged in a shootout in broad daylight last month in Clifton, where they allegedly fired firearms at one another, leading authorities to charge them with attempted murder.

According to officials, the gunfight took place outside in a park with other persons present.

According to the criminal complaint and public records, Malachi Emory, 18, was arrested on Monday and Bill Vinton, 24, was detained on Thursday for allegedly firing firearms on December 12 at approximately 2:15 p.m. in the area of 55 Bowen St.

The defendants’ separate apartments on Park Hill Avenue, where the gunfight took place, were only a short distance away.

According to a law enforcement source, the gunfight started when Vinton and two people who are still at large followed Emory into a public park near a playground.

According to reports, Vinton fired at Emory. According to the law enforcement source, Emory reportedly responded three shots before fleeing.

According to the source, authorities uncovered three shell casings from 9 mm bullets at the scene and a.40-caliber shell casing close by, although no injuries were recorded during the battle.

According to the criminal complaint, each defendant made an effort to kill someone else while acting in a way that demonstrated a callous disregard for human life.

According to the complaint, each defendant fired the aforementioned pistol several times at other people in a public park while numerous other people were nearby.

The defendants face reckless endangerment, criminal possession of a firearm, rifle, or shotgun in a sensitive site, illegal use of a firearm, attempted assault, and criminal possession of a weapon in addition to attempted murder.
