New York City is bracing for a steamy Fourth of July holiday, with temperatures expected to hover around the 90-degree mark, accompanied by stifling humidity levels. According to Senior AccuWeather meteorologist Tom Kines, while today’s temperatures are peaking at 88 degrees, the oppressive humidity is making the atmosphere feel particularly uncomfortable.
Kines forecasts a brief respite from the humidity on Monday and Tuesday, with temperatures dipping into the lower 80s. However, the humidity will return by mid-week, although temperatures will remain moderate around 80 degrees.
Despite the promising start to the week, Kines warns of potential disruptions to Fourth of July festivities due to looming thunderstorms. As temperatures peak at 86 degrees on Independence Day, the presence of thunderstorms could complicate outdoor plans. Kines advises residents to stay informed about weather updates and consider alternative arrangements if necessary.

Looking ahead, the weekend following the Fourth of July is expected to maintain a similar weather pattern, with humidity persisting and temperatures climbing back up to the high 80s and low 90s. This typical summer weather, near historical averages for this time of year, underscores the importance of staying cool and hydrated during outdoor activities.
