On the set of the Bruce Springsteen film Deliver Me from Nowhere Tuesday in Bayonne, Jeremy Allen White had a ravenous appetite.
Australian actor Odessa Young, 26, who plays the Boss’s love interest in the movie, joined White, 33, who plays a younger version of the boss, as the film’s production progresses.
In a scene shot on the street next to a 1980s Chevy Camaro Z28, White, the Emmy winner from The Bear, and a barefoot Young (The Staircase, The Order) were seen sharing a kiss.
Filming also included a kid actor perched atop a toy horse, and filmmaker Scott Cooper (Crazy Heart, The Pale Blue Eye, Antlers, Black Mass) was in the vicinity.
Filming for Deliver Me from Nowhere is taking place throughout Jersey and is about the creation of Springsteen’s 1982 album, Nebraska. The 2023 novel Deliver Me from Nowhere by Warren Zanes of Montclair served as the inspiration for the film.
Earlier this month, when the film was being filmed in a number of local locations, including Bayonne, Springsteen personally appeared on set.
He gave White a hearty hug at the Hudson County city and autographed scripts for the actors and crew. When Springsteen, 75, was on the set of Rockaway, he embraced English actor Stephen Graham, who plays his father, Douglas Dutch Springsteen. Fans who had arrived to observe the Rahway filming were also given autographs by the Jersey music legend (see photo below).
Asbury Park, Springsteen’s former hangout, will host the 20th Century Studios movie in December.
In light of this, the production, which held an open casting call in October, is currently seeking background actors and extras to portray teenage concertgoers from the 1980s for scenes that will be filmed in Asbury Park on December 9–13 and December 16.
Anyone interested should send an email [email protected] with their name, age, phone number, height, weight, shoe and clothing sizes, whether they are a member of the Screen Actors Guild or not, whether they have any tattoos, whether they live in Asbury Park, whether they are available to work on set, and whether they are willing to attend a costume fitting in Jersey City. Line of subject: Asbury Park
Deliver Me from Nowhere and Zanes’ book is titled after one of the songs on Nebraska, State Trooper:
At the end of the song, Springsteen sings, “Hey, somebody out there, listen to my last prayer.” Deliver me out of the blue, silver-o.
The Emmy-winning Succession actor Jeremy Strong, who portrays Springsteen’s manager Jon Landau, is part of the remaining cast of Deliver Me from Nowhere.
Emmy nominatedIn the film, Gaby Hoffmann (Transparent, Girls) portrays Adele Springsteen, Springsteen’s mother. The actual Adele was 98 years old when she passed away in January, and Springsteen’s father passed away in 1998.
Winner of an EmmyMike Batlan, a guitar tech who helped Springsteen create “Nebraska,” which he recorded in a rented Colts Neck house, is portrayed by Paul Walter Hauser (Black Bird, Richard Jewell).
As the guitarist for the E Street Band and Springsteen’s right-hand man, Johnny Cannizzaro (Jersey Boys) portrays Steven Van Zandt.
WyckoffsOppenheimer’s character, David Krumholtz, portrays record executive Al Teller, who worked on Nebraska.
