New York’s Staten Island. Even though it might not be another Breaking Bad spin-off, actor Bryan Cranston has stated that he will be present when Malcolm in the Middle, a sitcom about a dysfunctional suburban family, returns more than 20 years after it debuted.
With Frankie Muniz, Cranston, and Jane Kaczmarek returning to their respective parts as Malcolm and his parents, Hal and Lois, Disney+ has scheduled a four-episode revival. Linwood Boomer, the originator of the series, will also be returning as an executive producer and writer.
Disney said in a statement that Malcolm and his own daughter return home and are thrown into the pandemonium of their parents’ 40th wedding anniversary celebration.
Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded Television, said in a statement that Malcolm in the Middle is a historic sitcom that encapsulated family life with heart, humor, and relatability. Audiences of all ages were moved by its heartwarming and humorous depiction of a charmingly dysfunctional family, and we can’t wait to see the original cast return to recreate the magic.
In the Emmy Award-winning program, which ran for seven seasons from 2000 to 2006, Muniz played Malcolm, a middle child with a high IQ who was sandwiched between four siblings who got into all kinds of mischief with his crazy and eccentric parents.
In a social media announcement video, Muniz stated, “I have been waiting for this moment for eighteen years; let’s find out where Malcolm and his family are now.” Cranston, sporting a mustache, admitted that he could have urinated a little bit because he was so thrilled about the reunion. “I can’t wait to yell at that kid again,” Kaczmarek remarked.
The date of the debut has not yet been disclosed.
